Day 6 - Trooping to Beverly Hills (Heh)

Tuesday was  a bit of a catch-up day. Catching up on sleep, catching up on email, catching up on errands, etc.

There was one outing I've had on my list since before leaving Tacoma. I read a Buzzfeed post about Harajuku crepes. They looked delicious and there was a note at the bottom of the post about a restaurant that sells them in LA.

I headed out to Harajuku Crepe in Beverly Hills for dinner. On the way, I passed all the famous street names, stores, and palm trees that let you know you're in Beverly Hills and not in Kansas anymore.

The shop is small and casual with a Papyrus font menu and very friendly people. They are open from 10 AM to 10 PM so I was surprised at the lack of savory crepes on the menu. I had planned to eat dinner and I saw mostly dessert crepes available.

I could design my own crepe or choose a popular combination. I chose the banana/whipped cream/peanut butter/Nutella/almonds crepe thinking it would give me the most nutritional fortitude. However, as I waited I realized that it was super boring and a crepe I could get pretty much anywhere. I asked the gentleman if it was too late to switch and because it wasn't, I switched to the fresh strawberry and Azuki bean crepe. There was a price difference so the gentleman recommended I added some ice cream and a dry ingredient.

My very satisfying dinner ended up being an original crepe filled with strawberries, red beans, green tea ice cream, and corn flakes. If these shops do take over the US, I highly recommend this combination.

I walked around as I ate. I was surprised to find my Wednesday destination pretty much right across the street. (More on that later.)

I passed shops for Chanel, Cartier, Lladro, La Perla, and Vidal Sassoon among others.

My favorite shop was Bijan for several reasons. First, back in 2000, Bijan launched a series of ads starring a beautifully zaftig model named Bella. (Article about it here, pictures here.) Among the ads is one of my favorite pictures of all time:

The Bijan awesomeness continued in the window display with more pictures.

Tons of autographed photographs from politicians, celebrities, and stars.

This was my favorite:

On the wall to the side were these amazing shelves that I intend to track down.

Overall, a less adventurous, but still a fun and productive day.

Thursday, my second trip to Beverly Hills and then off to Santa Ana for more adventuring!
